Outside Interference as the Winning Hand in the Ended Fifth Session in GMCL Asia-Oceania Region Preliminary

The fifth session in the preliminary of GMCL Asia-Oceania Region concluded, which Fangzhuang Club ranking in the first place for four consecutive sessions encountered outside interference and slid to the third place while China Wonderful Dragon Team broke out of encirclement of two Japanese teams and rose to the top of rankings.

Shuimu Community Team which went ahead steadily and surely and maintained its third place in the first four sessions, but silently rose to the first place by 186 IMPs in team’s total IMP upon closure of the preliminary, whose win rate was 32.19%, the highest of all. Gao Jun, leader of Shuimu Team (ID: xihumj), successfully won 69 IMPs by reversible tiles in 14thhands while other players got negative IMP in the same position.

China Wonderful Dragon Team was still ranked in the second place. Currently, its total IMP is 185 IMPs, 1 IMP lower than Shuimu Community Team. In the session, China Wonderful Dragon Team overtook two Japanese teams whose shoot rate had been previously the lowest and almost equalized with No.1 by ultra-low shoot rate of 13.44% and win rate of 30.00%. At present, ranking in the fourth and fifth place are JKMA & OMU and JMSA. The two teams are expected to fiercely collide with each other while battling for the semi-final in the sixth session. Ranking in the sixth place is Chinese Taipei Team. It is in smaller IMP difference with two Japanese teams. Ranking in the seventhandeighth place are Singapore and Australia, which fall behind others.

Xiao Jilin (ID: 我叫叶荣添), a player from China Wonderful Dragon Team, was awarded MVP in the session and ranked on top of personal IMP ranking. Of all in the top ten rankings, currently, China Xiaoyaolong Team and Shuimu Community Team respectively have three players, Fangzhuang Club has two players and JKMA & OMU and Chinese Taipei Team respectively have one player.

Although Fangzhuang Club which had been ranked in the first place took 11IMPs in the session, it was beat by other two Chinese teams in strong rise. As a result, it fell to the third place. It was informed by Tian Wei (ID: 灵异骇客), leader of Fangzhuang Club. We know that Zhang Bo (ID: Arctique) who had failed to log in to take part in the session since he was in a poor cyber environment abroad. As a result, his computer automatically won by its own draw in place of his own manipulation and he failed to strive for more IMPs for his team. It reminds other teams as well. Even though it is a cyber game, it’s necessary to fully prepare for a session ahead. It is also a loss by failing to win more IMPs due to outside interference. Meanwhile, we like Fangzhuang Club as well. They set truly an example in building a fair and just competitive mahjong cyber game environment by not replacing a player’s manipulation due to computer for he/she fails to log in.

The final session in the preliminary in Asia-Oceania Region is about to start at 19:30 on September 21. It will determine of all eight teams in the Asia-Oceania Region, which team will take part in the semi-final and which team will leave GMCL.
