“Novice tournament” promotes SBR mahjong in Russia

Recently a new type of tournament took place in Moscow at the Meridian Cultural Center. 28 players took part in so-called “Novice tournament”, the vast majority of participants, 17 players, played their first tournament!

In order to hold a tournament specifically for beginners, it was decided to limit participation to “experienced” players and provide an opportunity to play for players with minimal or no experience at all (the first tournament). The result exceeded the wildest expectations — 28 participants of the “mahjong festival” in November are a clear proof of this.

Remarkably, the first two places were won by the junior players. Altogether, all three generations players participated in this event.
