Tournament Overview
The Nanyang Modern Mahjong Mindsport Tournament finally returns after a long hiatus! The third edition of
this Singapore-organised MCR tournament will take place in February 2025, on board Royal Caribbean’s Anthem
of the Seas, departing from Singapore. This tournament is organised jointly by Singapore Sparrows Mahjong
Network and Quesheng International Mahjong Club in partnership with Citystate Cruises, and supported by the
Mahjong International League.
Anthem of the Seas will offer a family-friendly itinerary that allows guests to visit two ports-of-call in Southeast
Asia along with many entertainment options onboard the ship. This includes two whole days in Phuket, Thailand,
where there will be lots of time for beachside activities, water sports, seafood meals, and exploration of Phuket
Island. Interested competitors are welcome to come along with their families so that they can enjoy both a
challenging international mind sport tournament and a fun-filled cruise vacation!

Accommodation Costs for Cruise
SGD 899.00 per person for early-bird promotional fares (twin-sharing standard rooms). See below for more detailed rates.
Fares after the early-bird promotional period will be higher, following prevailing rates.
Registration Deadlines (including payment for cruise package)
15th September 2024, for registration of interest. (In the event that there is not enough interest, this tournament will be cancelled.)
30th September 2024, for payment of early-bird promotional fares.

A minimum of 64 players, and a maximum of 72 players.
Rules
Mahjong Competition Rules, 1998 edition as interpreted by the Mahjong International League (MIL), viz. the China Majiang Federation MCR Tournament Rules (2017 version with English translation).
Tournament Format
8 games in Danish System for player-matching (non-elimination, strong-against-strong).
Prizes
This tournament has prizes for the top 8 individuals.

Check-in at Marina Bay Cruise Centre Singapore: 11.00 am to 2.00 pm. Gate closes after 2.30 pm, and latecomers will not be allowed to board.

The standard fare for each person is based on a twin-sharing Interior Stateroom. Other cabins are also available, see table of prices for the early-bird promotion below.

** Some rooms can accommodate 3 or 4 guests, depending on the cabin’s configuration. However, the pricing is not so ideal. Hence, it is recommended that 3 adults choose one twin-sharing room and a single room instead of a triple-sharing room. Please check with us for prevailing rates (no early-bird promotional fare available).

Fares are all in SGD, and are inclusive of port taxes of SGD 89.00 and pre-paid gratuities of SGD 122.00. Fares cover all meals and most activities onboard. Additional charges will apply for alcohol, premium beverages, internet, shore excursions, spa services, and specialty dining.
The fares shown above are the early-bird promotional rates offered by our partner company, Citystate Cruises, and are valid until 30th September 2024 (date of payment). Fares offered after the early-bird promotional period will be higher and will follow prevailing rates then.
Tournament Information
Rules: Mahjong Competition Rules published by the General Administration of Sport of China in 1998, as interpreted by the Mahjong International League (MIL), in the form of the tournament rules used by the China Majiang Federation (see CMF MCR Tournament Rules 2017) A pre-tournament briefing will be conducted for players unfamiliar with this version of the rules. The referees for this tournament will be supported by MIL.
Tournament format: A total of 8 games. Match-ups for the first game will be random (players will draw lots), and will be according to rank (based on total table-point and competition-point scores) from the second game onwards.
Alloted time for each game: 115 minutes. When the alloted time runs out, players still in play are allowed to finish the current deal, but cannot start a new deal.

Payment will be made directly to Citystate Cruises, and details on the payment process will be provided to registrants.
The payment deadline for the early-bird promotion is 30th September 2024.
The final deadline for registration is 10th December 2024, if any places are left. Adjusted prevailing cruise fares will be provided upon enquiry after 30th September 2024.
Registrations will be accepted in the order received by the organisers, and will be confirmed once payment has been made and verified.
After payment is made, cancellations will be subject to some penalty. No refund will be allowed after 4th February 2025.
