Italy Taking the Lead in the First Half of GMCL Europe Zone Preliminary
At the 3rd game in the Global Mahjong Champions League (GMCL) Europe Zone Preliminary that concluded at 3:30 a.m. on September 1(GMT+8), Italy took the lead by 61 IMPs followed by Switzerland whose total score was 27 IMPs. Russia and Spain were ranked in the third and fourth place respectively. Their total scores were -34 IMPs and -93 IMPs respectively.
At the start of the preliminary, Switzerland began by its showing its edge, attaining 41 IMPs upon conclusion of the first game followed by Italy, Russia and Spain ranking in the second, third and fourth place respectively. Italy then adjusted its players and techniques, overtaking in the second game and ranking No.1 by 70 IMPs. Switzerland was lagged behind by 48 IMPs. After the third game concluded, Switzerland failed to level the score and ended up by losing 34 IMPs.
Russia took 15 IMPs in its total score at the start but made more mistakes in the following two games. Its rate of defense fell and total score declined to -34 IMPs. Spain gradually adjusted its game state, whose rate of winning rose from 12.5% to 21.35% and rate of win declined in the three games. But it needs more efforts to catch up with other teams.
A total of 25 players took part in the first half of Europe Zone Preliminary. Switzerland was the only team that maintained its cast in the three games. Its four players showed a steady style. Mei Hwa Felder (ID: Mei_Hwa_Felder) made an excellent performance, ranking No.1 in the rankings of personal IMP and winning MVP once in the first two games. Italy came to the fore later, and its player Miria Martelli (ID:MIRMARTE) made the highest personal IMP in accumulation in the three games followed by the other three players ranking in the top six as well.
GMCL Europe Zone Preliminary Final is scheduled to convene at the end of September. Its final champion is expected to be promoted to the GMCL Global Final and runner-up is expected to take part in games in the America-Africa Zone for staying in the league.
