First MCR Duplicate Teams in Europe Took Place in Moscow
MOSCOW – Eight teams competed in the first in Europe MCR Duplicate Championship. Out of thirty-two contestants from Russia and China, the best team is AnnSpiel (Shpilman Anna, Stepanova Anna, Goptareva Tatyana, Shpilman Aleksei).
Duplicate Method
The tournament was held on duplicate system of accounting results for teams. Each deal in unchanged form has been played at four tables so that all players of one team were playing the deal seating at four different winds. The sum of game points collected from four players then has been converted into IMPs. Final result thus is a sum of IMPs collected from all deals played decreased by amount of penalty.
Players
The tournament was attended by 32 players from Moscow and Moscow region, St. Petersburg, Tambov, including five players from China – Li Wenlong, Song Panjing, Wu Lita, Cui Lianzhen, Li Rongguang. Li Wenlong is General Secretary of Mahjong International League (MIL), which have widely presented duplicate format of mahjong to the world, primarily in October 2015 at the 1st World Mahjong Sports Games in China.
