Better-off Spain Team and Bottom Italian Team in the Closing GMCL Europe Region Preliminary

Italian Team that lost its No.1 position and fell to the third place in the rankings in the fifth session still failed to recover its state and continued to lose scores. It got IMP in the 4th, 5th, 9th and 10thhands only. Its total score of 16 hands was-43 IMPs. Its total score in accumulation was -89 IMPs. Its win rate was too low in spite of its lowest shoot rate of 15.89% of all. As a result, it was overtaken by Russia Team, plummeting to its bottom.

Spain Team formidably won 35 IMPs in the session after breaking the ice of bottom in the fourth session, further reducing its gap with the top of rankings. Switzerland Team was not in good state in the session, losing 46 IMPs. Its score of six sessions was 59 IMPs in accumulation. It would be probably overtaken by Spain Team if failing to recover its state in time in the semi-final.

Concerning personal performance, Marco Montebelli (ID: buffalo) from Italian Team won 6 IMPs in team’s total score by self-drawn pure straight in the 9thhand and got positive IMPs in 6 hands of 16 hands, accumulating 11 IMPs for the team. Whereas, its teammates made poor performance and failed to turn the tables. Antonio Ayllón (ID: Antonio_Ayllon) from Spain Team and EVGENIY KHLUDENTSOVA (ID: E_Sonnet) from Russia Team made outstanding performance, getting 38 IMPs and 31 IMPs respectively and playing a vital role in the sustainable advance of their teams. They were ranked in the second and seventh place respectively in personal IMP rankings.

So far, the preliminary in the Europe Region have concluded. Since only 4 teams took part in the competition in the Europe Region, accumulated IMPs of all teams will not be decreased. Instead, they will proceed with their two semi-final by current rankings and IMPs according to the results of the consultation made by the arbitration committee in the Europe Region.

In the morning of September 29 and September 30 (Beijing Time), four powerful European teams will continue to fight. The team ranked No.1 in team’s total IMP in accumulation in the end will be directly promoted to the final while the second place will take part in the competition in the America-Africa Region.
