2016 Shangri-la Cup Mahjong Mind Sport Asian Elite Invitational Will be Open on 23-24 October

        To promote Mahjong into Mind Sports, Ningbo Shangri-La hotel is going to host an initial Asian Mahjong elite invitational tournament, which includes MCR(Mahjong Conpetition Rules, the only unified global Mahjong rules) and NBR (local Ningbo Rules).

        MIL Commission of High-level Player(HLP, HLP@mahjong-mil.org) is invited to supervise the whole process, and to issue the principle of selecting high-level players, who are expected to play against for 8 high-to-high sessions at the Mahjong orginiating City-Ningbo, Zhejiang Province, China.

        The main event is MCR Asian Elite Invitational, with only 40 high-level players from China, Japan, Singapore and few from Europe. To attract more local players and increase the basement of competitive Mahjong popuplation, there will be also local NBR Elite Invitational with more than 100 local players. During the tournaments, MCR players will play against NBR players in the exhibition sessions to promote the spirit of Mahjong mind sport.

Each MIL members from Asian Zone has the priority to recommend only 2 high-level players to MIL HLP. The basic principle of recommending high-level players is as followings:

1) First priority:　Registered players once won the Champion in the international or domestic (more than 100 players) tournament.

2) Alternate:　If a certain MIL member does not has any player with Champion, the quotas should be decieded by MIL HLP accroding to the players` performance of the member in past international tournaments. And the recommended players should has the top ranking within a reasonable ranking system of the associations or clubs.

For those organizations or associations not MIL members yet, it is required they should have more than 50 registered players and have organized international or domestic (more than 100 players) tournaments before. And then MIL HLP will decieded the quotas according to the principle mentioned above.

Now, there have been more than 20 Champions from not only Asia but also Europe registered. Ningbo and Shangri-La Hotel, the Mahjong originating city and the most fantastic resort, are ready to the first BIG MCR event!
